Auto detect proxy setings in IE?

I have a laptop, it conects at work(trough wireless conection). The IE settings/ LAN settings are set to use an proxy server (I have an IP address ant a port to use for all the protocols). The problem is when I take the laptop home, I cannot conect to the internet. I tried to to check "auto detect settings" box but it is not working.

What settings should I change so I can conect to internet from home. I mention that the laptop conects to the wireless router, it is getting an IP address form the router (which is a DCHP server as well), I can ping the router form the laptop.

Any ideas?

You would need to uncheck the use proxy server block. This will probably delete the information in there, so write it down so you can reverse it back at work. It would be easier to find some software that lets you configure different options for different connections. Access Connections for IBM/Lenovo, Network Profile Manager (shareware). Google for one, or check your manufacturers website, they may offer a utility.

Well dude you have to put your laptop close to your server. check closer places maybe range is too short...
It may be alittle more involved. The reason may be, DNS. Check your settings on you DNS record on the notebook and see where it is redirecting. It is probably setup to work at your work, DNS server at work. If so, thats mostly your problem. Change this. Make sure your ip address is the same, default gateway, dns...

i.e. Your Router: 192.168.0.1 (same for dns,gateway)

Your Notebook (gateway: 192.168.0.1, DNS 10.10.7.8)

So when the notebook trys to find the network, it contacts 10.10.7.8 (or whatever your dns is)

I've had this problem many times with people who bring home their work notebooks and want to setup them at home.

AND REMEMBER: if you do change these settings, remember them for when you go back to work or else, you'll be in the same postion.
